How do I claim Disability Living Allowance for a child?
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, a child under 16 claims Disability Living Allowance, not PIP. Care and mobility are separate. The claim is on GOV.UK. In Scotland, a new claim for a child goes to Child Disability Payment instead.
- PIP starts from 16. Attendance Allowance starts at State Pension age.
- This check does not score a child’s care or mobility needs, so it cannot name a rate.
