How long does Universal Credit take?
The first payment is usually about five weeks after you claim. That is one month of assessment, then up to seven days to pay. You can ask for an advance while you wait. The advance is repaid from later Universal Credit.
- A change of circumstances is not instant. It is taken into the assessment period.
- This site cannot see a live claim, so it cannot tell you your payment date.
