How much is New Style ESA?
The 2026/27 assessment rate in this catalogue is £75.65 a week if you are under 25, and £95.55 a week if you are 25 or over. That is before any extra amount from a work capability assessment. New Style ESA is based on National Insurance. Savings do not stop it the way they stop Universal Credit.
- A fit note starts the claim. The work capability assessment decides any further component. This check cannot award that component.
- You can get New Style ESA and Universal Credit at the same time. ESA is counted as income on the Universal Credit claim.
