How do I claim Child Benefit?

Claim on GOV.UK. You need the child’s birth or adoption certificate, your own identity, and bank details. Claim even if a high income may claw it back. Only one person claims for each child.

  • In Scotland, Scottish Child Payment is a separate claim. It does not replace Child Benefit.
  • A child under 16 counts, or under 20 if they stay in approved education.
