Answers · Question
New Style ESA or Universal Credit?
They are different claims, and you can make both. New Style ESA needs National Insurance and a fit note. Universal Credit needs low income and savings under £16,000. ESA does not pay your rent. Universal Credit can.
- If you have not paid enough National Insurance, New Style ESA is not open. Universal Credit may still be.
- ESA you are paid is income for Universal Credit. Do not expect both amounts in full.
