What can I get with no recourse to public funds?

A no recourse to public funds condition blocks the benefits listed as public funds. It does not block contribution-based payments such as new-style Jobseeker’s Allowance, new-style Employment and Support Allowance, Maternity Allowance, State Pension or Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit, where the contribution test is met.

  • A child in the household can ask the council for a Children Act section 17 assessment. That is social services, not a benefit.
  • A basic bank account is not a public fund. The bank still has to check immigration status.
