Is it PIP or Adult Disability Payment?

A new claim in Scotland is Adult Disability Payment, paid by Social Security Scotland. PIP is the benefit in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. People who were on PIP in Scotland have been moved. A person who moves from Scotland to England may have to claim PIP.

  • The activities are similar. The organisation, the form and the phone number are not. Do not use the DWP PIP line for a new Scottish claim.
  • Adult Disability Payment rates follow the same weekly structure. Check mygov.scot for the Scottish claim.

Which page to use

England, Wales and Northern Ireland: GOV.UK, Personal Independence Payment, and the new claims line 0800 917 2222, or 0800 012 1573 in Northern Ireland.

Scotland: mygov.scot, Adult Disability Payment. The diary and the 12 tasks on this site are still the right way to describe a week. The claim itself goes to Social Security Scotland.

GOV.UK, Personal Independence Payment
