Answers · Question
Is the State Pension the same as Pension Credit?
No. The new State Pension is paid from your National Insurance record. Pension Credit is a separate top-up if your weekly income is under £238 for one person or £363.25 for a couple. Those are the 2026/27 guarantees in this catalogue.
- You claim the State Pension and Pension Credit separately. A full National Insurance record does not guarantee the full pension. Check the forecast on GOV.UK.
- Pension Credit has no £16,000 savings cap. £1 a week is counted for every £500 of savings over £10,000.
