Tax-Free Childcare or the Universal Credit childcare element?
You cannot use both for the same childcare. Tax-Free Childcare adds £2 for every £8 you pay a registered provider, up to a cap. The Universal Credit childcare element is claimed inside Universal Credit. If you get Universal Credit, that element is the route. Do not open a Tax-Free Childcare account as well.
- Tax-Free Childcare usually needs you, and a partner, to be in work. Funded hours at a nursery are a third thing. Those are hours, not cash.
