Who gets free school meals?
It depends on the nation. England uses a benefits and earnings test, and you apply. Scotland pays for P1 to P5 without that test. Wales and Northern Ireland use their own qualifying lists. The check reads the nation from the postcode. It does not approve a meal.
- A child who is not school age is not in this scheme. Free early-education hours are separate.
